Understanding the Deadlines
- June 15 Deadline - This applies only to the current year’s return for those living abroad.
- October 15 Deadline – The extended deadline for those who filed Form 4868 before by the original due date of their return.
- Streamlined Returns do not share the October 15 deadline. If your Streamlined returns are returned to you, there is no specific filing deadline, but we recommend re-sending them as soon as possible.
Keep Records of the Returned Package
If your package is returned, keep:
- The envelope/package shows the IRS address and postmark.
- Any return-to-sender label or explanation from the postal service.
These records can be helpful if the IRS later issues a notice regarding your filing.
Use the Correct IRS Mailing Address
Please ensure you are using the correct IRS address for Streamlined submissions.
The current IRS address for Streamlined submissions is:
Internal Revenue Service
3651 South I-H 35
Stop 6063 AUSC
Attn: Streamlined Foreign Offshore
Austin, TX 78741
USA
IRS – US Taxpayers Residing Outside the United States

Common Mailing Issues
Most clients are able to send their returns without any problems. Some international couriers may not deliver to the IRS addresses listed above. This is uncommon but has been reported in certain countries, such as France.
Tip: DHL is often more reliable for international deliveries.
