FAQsDeductions
When it comes to deduction for donations and charity, only donations to qualified organizations can be included. You can check if your organization is eligible to receive US tax-deductible contributions on the IRS website.
If you have any single donations of $250 or more, we recommend only including them if you have a receipt.
The receipt from the charitable organization must show:
- Amount and description of donation.
- If any services or goods were received in return for the donation.
How to add deductions for charity donations
- Click “More Deductions” in the side navigation panel to reveal the sub-menu, and select “Itemized Deductions”.
- Select “Donations” and “Let’s start itemizing”.
- Select whether the expenses were all in the same or different currencies.
- Input the total donation amount within each category:
- Donations in cash or check (or bank transfer)
- Other donations not in cash or check
- Any carryover of donations not deducible in the previous tax year
