How to Resolve
You have two options:
Option 1: Update the Spouse’s Prior-Year AGI
- Log in to your MyExpatTaxes account.
- Click HERE.
- Enter the correct prior-year AGI for your spouse.
- Save your changes.
- Resubmit your return.
Option 2: Authorize Us to E-File on Your Behalf
If you’re unsure about the correct AGI:
- Log in to your MyExpatTaxes account.
- Click HERE.
- Download Form 8879.
- Sign and upload the completed form.
This authorizes us to e-file your return on your behalf.
What You Need to Know
- If you filed jointly last year, both spouses use the same AGI amount.
- Use the AGI from your originally filed return, not an amended version.
- If your prior-year return was filed very recently, the IRS system may not recognize it yet.
- If the IRS processed your return late last year, entering 0 as the AGI may resolve the issue.
